Small Observations

Scenarios, scenarios

When struggling with a relationship, there are a few fundamental scenarios:

You are not aware of the root problem at all.
You are not aware of the root problem, because you think something else is the problem.
You are aware of the problem, and don’t know how to fix it.
You are aware of the problem, and want to fix it.
You are aware of the problem, and don’t want to fix it.
You are aware of the problem, but fixing it means that there's a big sacrifice that has to happen (sacrificing aspects of self, or another person or relationship altogether).

The permutations multiply depending on whether, or how much, you love the person and cherish the relationship. For example:

You love the person, and are aware of the problem, but don’t want to fix it because you don’t want the relationship to continue.
You don’t really love the person, but you are aware of the problem and still want to fix it, because you like other aspects of the relationship.

Sometimes, though, you are aware of the problem, but it isn’t you who can fix it. In this case, if you want the relationship to continue, you have to figure out how to co-exist with the problem. For some, co-existing with it means relying on immoral ways, like lying and cheating, just to get by. Otherwise, you have to end the relationship.
